Credentials & Requirements

• Required Credentials / Licensure:
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent AAPC credential (required)
• Additional Requirements or Notes:
  • Minimum 2 years of professional coding experience in Primary Care, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine
  • Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, E/M coding
  • Experience with risk-related diagnosis validation (non-HCC)
  • Knowledge of payer rules, modifier usage, medical necessity, and clean-claim standards
  • Ability to maintain ≥95% coding accuracy and meet turnaround times
  • Adherence to HIPAA and organizational confidentiality standards
  • Strong communication skills for provider and front-office collaboration

Workflow & Systems

• Systems Used:
• Medisys, Allscripts, eClinicalWorks, clearinghouse platforms, Microsoft Office Suite
• Timekeeping / Clock System:
• Client or Vendor-Assigned Timekeeping System
• Productivity Expectations:
• Meet assigned encounter turnaround times while maintaining ≥95% coding accuracy
• Productivity Volumes by Specialty:
• Primary Care encounters (Preventive, Chronic, Acute); volumes assigned based on workload and complexity
• Audit / QA Program:
• Participation in internal and external coding audits with feedback-driven improvement

• Equipment Requirements:
  • Reliable computer capable of running EMR and clearinghouse systems
  • Two (2) monitors
  • Webcam and microphone for Microsoft Teams meetings
  • Secure, HIPAA-compliant home office
  • Stable high-speed internet connection
• Work Environment:
  • Standard business hours with flexibility during audits or month-end
  • Required participation in Microsoft Teams meetings, training, and performance reviews
